Gary Howe is a Managing Director of Lazard and Head of the Financial Institutions Group, North America. Gary has over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector. His recent transaction experience includes advising on Scotiabank’s acquisition of BBVA Chile, the Rockefeller Family Trust’s sale of Rockefeller & Co. to Viking Global, State Street’s acquisition of GE Asset Management, TIAA’s acquisition of EverBank, the sale of BSI to EFG, the sale of the Asian private banking businesses of ABN AMRO to LGT and of Barclays to OCBC, and American Express’ $1.8 billion corporate travel joint venture. He also advised on the IPO of ABN AMRO and the U.S. Treasury on its IPO of Ally Financial. During the financial crisis, Gary was involved in some of the largest equity capital raisings for a range of clients including Wells Fargo, CIBC, Charles Schwab, Royal Bank of Scotland, First Horizon and Trustmark as well as Visa’s restructuring and $19.7bn IPO. Prior to Lazard, Gary was co-Head of FIG Americas at UBS. Gary received his BCom (Honours) from the University of Cape Town and is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa). He received his MBA (with distinction) and as a Palmer Scholar from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
